So I get an iPod from Birthday Claus (60gb iPod Video). Yee-haw. I install the obscene gobs of software that it tells me to install before plugging it in for the 1st time. I go through the ridiculous process of having to give far too much info about myself to Apple so that I may [...]
As I get older I find that I like The Who much more than Led Zeppelin. Further I have noticed that this seems to be a trend among others that I know who like both bands. I suppose Zeppelin is much more visceral and therefore appeals to a younger audience. While The Who are more [...]
The Washington Post today had an article updating the Ivory-billed Woodpecker conservation effort. It is good to see that the major media have not totally forgotten about this great conservation story.
Also as I previously mentioned, Sufjan Steven’s new song about the Lord God Bird has been posted to the NPR site. Get it while you [...]
Amazon is selling the new Sufjan album and they have an edited cover image up (superman has been removed). However if you are stupid you can run over to ebay and buy one of the original covers at an exhoribant markup!!!
DC Comics is not happy with Sufjan Stevens’ new album. You see, there is a small image of Superman flying over the Chicago skyline in the included artwork. So unless you preordered your copy you will have to wait even longer for this excellent album.
Here it is in all of its illegality:
I just received the new Sufjan Stevens album, Illinoise, in the mail (offical release date is next Tuesday 7.5.05). Once through and I am liking it so far. I need to really listen to it to make a judgement but so far it strikes me as more Sufjan goodness.
This is just too cool. NPR decided to ask Sufjan Stevens to write a song about Brinkley, Arkansas. They figured that since he has already written two entire albums one about Michigan and the other Illinois that he would be up for the task. Now this in itself is cool enough, but even cooler is [...]
Barkmarket’s album Gimmick is probably an album that you have never heard from a band that you have never heard of. It came out in early 1993 on Rick Rubin’s American label. It was received with little fanfare and was quickly sent to the cutout bin. The overwhelmng shadow of grunge was enough to kill [...]
The Supreme Court today ruled against Grokster saying that it is illegal to develop and “promote” software that allows users to share media files. Again we see how blind the court is to the reality in which real people actually live. This ruling will certainly not stop file sharing. The sheer magnitude of the stupidity [...]
I just received in the mail a stack of CDs. Amongst that stack is one of the more stunning albums I have heard in a long while, Antony and the Johnsons – I Am a Bird Now. You can google or read through the collection of press on their website for lots more details, but [...]
