<p>[Update 9/26/2006] Here is a <a href="http://www.ace-eco.org/vol1/iss3/art2/">link to the article</a> that apparently created this rumor.</p>
<p>It has been almost 2 years since the <a href="http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/abstract/sci;308/5727/1460">announcement</a> that there was at least one <a href="http://www.birds.cornell.edu/ivory/">Ivorybill Woodpecker</a> living in the swamps of Arkansas. Since then there has been very little hard evidence produced to back this extraordinary claim. The evidence that has been produced (a <a href="http://www.sciencemag.org/content/vol0/issue2005/images/data/1114103/DC1/1114103S1.mov">very short, very grainy video</a> and sightings by some skilled observers) has been <a href="http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/abstract/sci;311/5767/1555a">questioned</a>, and the <a href="http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/abstract/sci;311/5767/1555b">questions answered</a>. I for one am happy that the land that was purchased to protect the Ivorybill has been preserved, Ivorybill or not. Now there are some <strong>rumors </strong>starting to circulate that there is another site where a &#8220;major&#8221; University is studying 9 pairs of Ivorybills! If true this would be amazing, but we need some evidence.
