Most mornings I wake up with the strangest songs in my head. Typically they are songs that I have not heard in a long time and I can not figure out why in the world I wake up singing them. This morning it was the “Chop Chop Master Onion’s Rap” from Parappa the Rapper, a video game for the original Playstation. Then that left me and I have instead been carrying around a song from one of Niels’ (my son) Baby Einstein videos. At least I know where this came from!
Hey there little turtle Swimming in the deep blue sea It must be nice to never leave your home ...

I found your site while trying to locate a download of that damn song that’s stuck in your head and mine. I can’t shake the sounds of “hey little fishy, would you like to take a swim with me?” I just had to share that I got a kick out of you post and to let you know I too feel your pain!!!
I too am stuck with this song, which I would trade for anything else; it sticks because it is the WORST song I have ever heard. The writer obviously has ZERO talent. (The ultimate worst is the dolphin part – horrific). He’s probably the DVD producer’s uncle or something… Ugh.
Admire the poetry, the imagery… Bah, it’s just for kids, right? Keep their standards and expectations low I say!
(Maybe I made a few mistakes in transcribing the lyrics, but if it’s the case, I most likely helped the outcome)

Deep Blue Sea – Jack Moss
I said hey little turtle would you like to take a swim with me
It must be nice to never leave your house when it’s time to move
You’re slow on land but man oh man in the water you really move oh yes
Hey we’re having fun swimming in the deep blue sea
Yeah we’re having fun swimming in the deep blue sea
I said hey little dolphin would you like to take a swim with me
You can show me how to hold my breath, swim to the bottom
Play with your friends, go back to the top, jump out of the water,
Spinning out top, just like an otter
Hey we’re having fun swimming in the deep blue sea
Yeah we’re having fun swimming in the deep blue sea
I said hey little fishes would you like to take a swim with me
We’ll swim around the reef all day obeying all the rules
Cause even though we’re having fun you know it’s still in school oh yes
Hey we’re having fun swimming in the deep blue sea
Yeah we’re having fun swimming in the deep blue sea

And with that, the song ends with a note he can hardly keep as he tries to fade out. Now that’s the kind of quality we’ve come to expect from Walt Disney!
Excellent! Now we have the lyrics. Hopefully Disney won’t sue me for Stephen’s hard work transcribing those profound lyrics.
Good time of day! My name is Olga, I’m from Moscow, Russia. I have a nice grandson, he will be 2 in April. I found your page while was looking for the lyrics of the song by Jack Moss “Blue, blue sea”. We also have some DVDs from Baby Einstein and our favourite disk is just that one about animals and that NICE song))) We also have some other DVDs from Baby Einstein, and there we found another song by Jack Moss “I know my shapes”. I tried to find its lyrics too, but my efforts failed((( Would you be so kind to help me in my search? If not… Well, I will try to write them down myself, nothing more. But my English is not so good to get lyrics from the first time. OK, it will be a nice training for me – listening to the song for hundred times))) Moreover it will be some extra trainings for both of us (me and my grandson) in learning shapes))) Good luck! OLGA
Where can I buy the CD of Jack Moss’ _Swimming in the Deep Blue Sea_?

Sure there are not only these songs))) Enjoy the show!
Oh god almighty. Does that song ever suck. My 15 month old likes it and my husband and I both find it simultaneously intolerable and catchy. Sticks in your head like nothing else.
What in the world do you people expect from a child’s video? The songs weren’t mean to appeal to an adult – read the age recommendations for the love of Pete!
Show me a child’s song that has won a Grammy or a Tony! My son is still learning how to stand – who cares if the song is stupid if he gets a kick out of it and I get a few moments of peace?
I’m betting that the people who pan this little ditty would rather hear “Living La Vida Loca” or the “Macarena”.
I would much rather listen to Deep Blue Sea all day than be forced to endure Barney or Elmo.
The “hey little fishy” song is absolutely the worst song I have ever heard. I have to leave the room when it comes on. It’s utterly embarassing for me to hear, being a musician myself. I encourage Jack Moss to give up. There isn’t a shred of talent here. And don’t give me that crap about kids music not being geared towards adults. I am tolerant of, and even enjoy, most kids music. But this song is so atrocious, I had to speak out. This is reason enough for me to stop buying Baby Einstein DVDs.
I think y’all are crazy. I love this song and want to know how to get a copy of it. I like his voice and the tune. Its fun to sing and put my childrens names in for the animals and make up my own lyrics for them. they love it. Hey little Andrew would you like to play wiyh me…
Oh hallelujah! My husband and I laughed so hard we were crying as I read your posts this morning after being subjected to Mr. Moss’ masterpiece yet again this morning. There is an unspoken bond all parents share … hilarious torture … and this is only the beginning. Whenever one of us stressed we break out “hey little turtle” and we just start dying. Our son is a Baby Einstein fanatic and there’s nothing we wouldn’t do for the little guy. Listening to this music is proof of that. “Hey we’re havin’ fun swimmin’ in the deep blue sea…”
The good news is that they grow out of it!
Thank you for the lyrics …Stephen!!!!!
my son likes this song!
Too funny….my son is six – it’s been a good two years since he’s watched that DVD…however a few minutes ago he starting making up a song…ending with “swimming in the deep blue sea”…I could not figure out what somg that came from…Thank you for helping – It would have driven me nuts all day! (of course now the song is stuck in my head…)
Shame on you “musician” Marty! Such a nice song, definitely intended for the audience that it is. You even have the nerve to suggest to the singer that he should give up because of some twisted, self righteous, and preconceived stupid idea that if the song is not to your liking then it’s no good for no one and your credentials supposedly give you some sort of authority to rubbish it and whoever likes it. On top of that, you find that good enough reason not to buy Baby Einstein videos, never mind that hey have been carefully crafted to develop a range of cognitive and motor skills for -again- the intended audience. My son loves it and I love to play for him with my guitar. You are an über-moron, Marty and I wipe my… face with your alleged musical expertise.
I said hey little Marty would you like to play a song for me
It must be nice to never leave your own world when it’s you that you hear
You’re self obsessed but man oh man your attitude is truly insincere
oh yes
Joe, I couldn’t have said it better. Marty, you should stop buying them. You’re creepy.
Deep Blue Sea – Jack Moss
I said hey, little turtle, would you like to take a swim with me?
Well, it must be nice to never leave your house when it’s time to move
You’re slow on land but, man oh man, in the water you really move oh yes
Hey we’re having fun, swimming in the deep blue sea
Yeah we’re having fun, swimming in the deep blue sea
I said hey, little dolphin, would you like to take a swim with me?
You can show me how to hold my breath, dive to the bottom,
Play with your friends, swim to the top, jump out of the water,
Spinning like a top, just like an otter
Hey we’re having fun, swimming in the deep blue sea
Yeah we’re having fun, swimming in the deep blue sea
I said hey, little fishes, would you like to take a swim with me
We’ll swim around the reef all day obeying all the rules
Cause even though we’re having fun you know it’s still in school oh yes
Hey we’re having fun, swimming in the deep blue sea
Yeah we’re having fun, swimming in the deep blue sea

Jack Moss is horrible and I have heard a lot of childrens music, in fact I can even remember when I was kid and was forced to listen to raffi records. At least they were not even CLOSE to the level of *yech* that is evoked when I hear the jack moss music in the baby einstein videos. I just have to say in response to those bashing the Marty musician guy. You are really pathetic for bashing a man with musical experience and likely “taste” that cannot stand the talentless dork and his lousy joke of a song. I have heard music on Noggin from many performers that have rather high qaulity music and it is FREE to listen to these songs on noggin.com. So in comparison to the music in the einstein videos I would have to agree with the marty guy. Mind you the terrible dolphin and shapes songs were NOT the reason that I stopped buying baby einstein videos. (they almost did me in thought) It was the change in ownership/production. The latest einstein videos are simply mimics of the original series. The founder has sold it off to disney who qickly hired a team of the cheapest people they could get and started knocking out wannabe einstain that is being bought up under the previous good reputation. It’s just typical showbiz BS. Try not to buy any of the einstein videos made after 2003 I think. niot sure. that is about when they switched over I believe. The new ones make the fisher price and mommy and me videos look good! eeek!
I like Jack’s music… Keep it simple stupid! Just like the Beatles man.
Gee, been like 15 months since I visited this place. Shmee, you are the PATHETIC one, together with “Marty musician” for essentially decreeing for us all that because you find the guy totally unappealing, we should too. We have no “taste” according to your post. You see, you can agree with your tasteful buddy, but (-again- I get so peeved when people want to force their opinions on me) just because you think differently you also think you can impose your truth on others. I will continue to bash you and your buddy and anyone else who continues with this self-righteouss bullcrap… you just try and see. On the other aspect you mention, the videos did turn a bit different, probably coinciding with the sale to Disney as you say. I did feel uncomfortable with some, but because I bought an 18-disc pack, it was all there. Still, I wouldn’t discard them and would suggest people buy them with caution and then buy more if they’re ok with that. Now we are into Little Einsteins (as my child is nearing 4) and it is great! I love them! Definitely recommend without reservations.
Wow I love this song, I was looking for the lyrics on the web, and i found just here!! my children love Baby Einstein and i love this music. Who is Jack Moss ?? From Brasil, Leticia with love.
RED DRAGONS!
