NFL Rule

I thought I new all of the NFL rules having watched quite a few games in my life, but tonight I learned a new one. The Fair Catch Kick rule. Very interesting. The implication here is that a team could call a fair catch with no time left in the half or game. Upon successfull completion of the fair catch the team can then choose to attempt a field goal or snap the ball. So in essence the half (or game) is continued with no time left. I have never actually seen this happen though.
